After three previous meetings upstate (Albany, Syracuse and most recently Buffalo, last April) the general members' meeting of the BIA/NYS will rotate to Long Island in the spring of 2008. The meeting date will be Thursday, April 10th, 2008. The meeting will be held at the Long Island High Technology Incubator, one of state's premier incubator facilities. LIHTI is also one of three incubator facilities associated with the Stony Brook University Incubator Program, where university Director of Economic Development Ann-Marie Scheidt will be our host. Provision will also be made for our members to visit the university's other two incubators (the Stony Brook Software Incubator and the Calverton Business Incubator) and also the nearby Broad Hollow Bioscience Park, which will have opened half of its second (incubator) building by the time of the meeting. The annual members' meeting is an opportunity for managers of member incubators throughout the state to visit each other's facilities, learn about program strategies from other regions of the state, hear invited special guests, and generally network. There is also a brief "business" meeting. Participation in the meeting is free to all member incubators, existing sponsors, invited guests, and incubators evaluating membership (one-time only). A fee may be charged for others who wish to attend. There is an opportunity for service providers to sponsor the meeting. If you are interested, please contact the executive director using the sitewide contact form. Members may click the headline above and then use the "signup" link at the bottom of the item to register for the meeting. Periodic email reminders will be sent by the system. UPDATE (1/6) -- Guest speakers will be Ed Reinfurt of NYSTAR and Bob Callender of NYSERDA. Don't miss this opportunity to talk business incubation with two important leaders of the state's technology-based economic development community. | ||
