NYU Tandon incubator program reviews entrants, graduations, funding rounds for 2015

The three incubators associated with NYU's Tandon School of Engineering welcomed 21 new entrants including six at the NYSERDA-supported NYC ACRE clean-energy incubator, according to a year-end review published by the NYU Tandon news office.

Milestones reported by incubator clients during the year included several major funding rounds, graduations and awards or recognitions:

  • Agrilyst won Tech Crunch Disrupt.
  • Bounce Exchange moved into the New York Times Building and is expanding to Germany and Singapore.
  • Clarifi, a Varick Street Incubator tenant, raised a $10 million round of funding and graduated.
  • CB Insights, a graduate of the Varick Street Incubator, raised a $10 million round of funding.
  • Clear Grid Innovations won Second Prize at Columbia University's Energy Symposium.
  • EVBox , the EU’s leading electric vehicle charging company, launched its American operations at NYC ACRE.

The university reports a 90 percent survival rate for the incubator program. Of 64 firms graduated since the program opened in 2009, some 56 remain operational. The year-end review also recaps the 5 companies approved by the state for residency in tax-free START-UP NY space collocated with the three incubators.

Separately, NYU Tandon also reported the inclusion within the DUMBO incubator of Prosper, a new pre-incubator for veteran-led startups.
