S.T.E.A.M. Garden, project of Central Ave. BID in Albany, joins BIA/NYS

The S.T.E.A.M. Garden, a business incubator being created at a former elementary school on the Central Avenue business corridor in Albany, has joined BIA/NYS as our newest member.

To help finance the building and startup expenses, the Central District Management Association, aka the Central Avenue Business Improvement District, received $850,000 in grants from Empire State Development Corp. and other state agencies through the Capital Region Economic Development Council. For more information, see the Central Avenue news release.

"STEAM" is an acronym in the education profession for "science, technology, engineering, arts and math." The S.T.E.A.M. Garden will coordinate with the i518 Innovation Hot Spot operated by SUNY's University at Albany, and also partner with Hudson Valley Community College, to bring together "tech" entrpreneurs, creative technology professionals, college students, and arts organizations in a single staffed facility.

The S.T.E.A.M. Garden is led by BID director Anthony Capece. We warmly welcome the incubator to membership!
