EAP at SSIC honors four small-business owners on Syracuse’s South Side

Four small-business owners who participated in the Entrepreneurial Assistance Program (EAP) at our member the South Side Innovation Center (SSIC) were recognized with cash prizes up to $1,000, certificates for advertising from Clear Chanel, and marketing consulting from Lighthouse Marketing.

The four were honored during graduation ceremonies for 19 participants who completed a course at the EAP on how to develop a business plan. For more information on the EAP statewide, see the websites of Empire State Development and the Division of Minority and Women Business Development.

The winners of the contest in order of finish were Shawan East, of East Environmental Group; Bennie McDonald, of BMD Snow Removal and Grass Cutting; and Tina Lesley-Fox, of Barefoot Photography. Honorable mention went to Lara Bezich, of Muvo, a company that produces moving boxes for college students. East Environmental and BMD are also tenants of the incubator, which is a program of the Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.
