Syracuse University and The Tech Garden receive $500k U.S. EDA award to create 50 new student-led ventures a year

A new center hosted by Syracuse University and our supporting member The Tech Garden will accelerate the formation of 50 new student-initiated ventures a year, all led by student entrepreneurs from 12 colleges and universities across Central New York and the Finger Lakes.

The new program, supported by a $500,000 “university center” award from the U. S. Econmic Development Administration, builds on a previous, smaller-scale Kauffman Foundation-funded project that led to formation of the Student Sandbox at The Tech Garden.

The student ventures will be mentored by 300 alumni and community members, and will lead to 100 new intern hires and 50 other hires. More information is available from news releases by Syracuse University and the U.S. EDA, and a listing of some student incubators affiliated with our member business incubators is here.
