Center for an Urban Future report highlights our incubators in the design sector, calls for more investment

In a recently released report, the independent think tank the Center for an Urban Future highlights our members the Pratt Design Incubator and New York Designs as examples of how the design sector can play a role in New York City’s strategy for innovation-based economic development.

Discussing the city’s major design institutes and the role their graduates play in business formation, the report notes: “Currently, only one of the city’s top design schools—Pratt—has an incubator for design start-ups. EDC should work with the schools to develop new incubators, and also consider expanding the three existing design incubators—Pratt’s design incubator, the New York Designs incubator at LaGuardia Community College and the CFDA Fashion Incubator.” For more information, see the report “Designing New York’s Future” and associated media coverage.
