SSIC programs and staff win awards for entrepreneurship training

Our member the South Side Innovation Center (SSIC) announced its WISE Women’s Business Center and Syracuse-based Vera House will team on a $100,000 grant from Verizon to teach entrepreneurship skills to survivors of domestic violence. For more information, see the SSIC news release or coverage at syracuse.com.

At the same time, Syracuse University announced that SSIC staffers Margaret Butler and William Abdul-Qadir have won awards from M&T Bank and the Small Business Administration (SBA), respectively, for their dedicated work training, counseling, and developing small businesses — especially those started by women and minorities — through SSIC’s state-funded Entrepreneurial Assistance Center and SBA-funded PRIME program.
