The Ceramics Corridor Innovation Centers, a two-site incubator program serving the advanced-materials sector, has joined BIA/NYS as our newest member. The incubators are a program of Alfred Technology Resources Inc. (ATRI), a nonprofit established 25 years ago by Alfred University, a leading center of research in advanced ceramics, Corning Inc., and several other upstate universities. The two sites are located in Painted Post, near Corning’s corporate and R&D headquarters, and in Alfred, near the university.
The incubator at Painted Post, a 40,000 square-foot lab-equipped facility, serves in part to house new-business ventures being spun out by Corning. The incubator at Alfred houses several young companies and advanced prototyping facilities supporting the industrial and academic members of Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology at Alfred University.
ATRI also owns a for-profit commercialization company, the Nano Materials Innovation Center, and a joint venture in e-waste recycling. The incubation program and subsidiaries are led by Dr. Alan Rae, an accomplished materials science business executive and entrepreneur.
We warmly welcome the Ceramics Corridor incubators to membership!
