BioInc@NYMC at New York Medical College (NYMC) has joined BIA/NYS as our newest member. Funded as a “priority project” under the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council, BioInc is the only university-affiliated wet-lab biosciences business incubator in the Hudson Valley between Albany and New York City. This is a region that has considerable private-sector bioscience activity and that the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation is now branding as BioHud Valley.
Slated to open shortly at 4,500 square feet and targeted ultimately for 10,000 square feet, BioInc represents a cornerstone of the reinvention of a 122,000 square-foot building formerly occupied by an independent cancer prevention institute on the Westchester County grounds in Valhalla. The incubator’s neighbors include a training center operated by SUNY Westchester Community College, the basic science complex and other assets of NYMC, the Westchester Medical Center, and the Westchester County Department of Laboratories, a forensic and public-health resource to county government. NYMC itself is a long-standing health sciences institution now affiliated with the Touro College & University System.
For more information on the incubator see the news release issued at the time of the Empire State Development capital award (the incubator was then referred to as iBio-NY). BioInc has joined us as a supporting member, a voluntary higher tier of membership that recognizes leaders of the incubator community statewide. We warmly welcome BioInc to membership!
