Sens. Schumer and Gillibrand announce $50k accelerator award to Rev: Ithaca Startup Works to support women entrepreneurs

In the second such award made to Southern Tier incubators in the past year, the federal Small Business Administration (SBA) is providing $50,000 for “Passenger to Pilot,” an accelerator providing support to women entrepreneurs.

The accelerator will be operated by our member Rev: Ithaca Startup Works. For more information, see news releases in the Cornell Chronicle and from Senators Schumer and Gillibrand. Rev is an incubator in downtown Ithaca that is a collaboration among Cornell, Ithaca College, and Tompkins Cortland Community College.

During the past year, Rev hosted the “Southern Tier Hardware Accelerator,” funded by a grant SBA had awarded to the Southern Tier Startup Alliance, the state-designated Innovation Hot Spot that includes Rev and several other member incubator programs and sites in Ithaca, Binghamton, Corning, and Elmira.

At the same time, Cornell announced that Tom Schryver, who coordinates both Rev and the Southern Tier Startup Alliance through his position with the Center for Regional Economic Advancement, will additionally lead the Entepreneurship and Innovation Institute (EII) at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell. For more information, please see the separate Cornell Chronicle release. Our congratulations to Tom, who serves as a member of our board of directors
