Griffiss Institute wins recognition from Federal Lab Consortium for its commercialization and accelerator programs

Our member the Griffiss Institute, a NYS certified business incubator at Griffiss Business and Technology Park on the site of the former Rome Air Force Base, has received two awards from the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC).

The awards from the FLC northeast regional meeting generally recognize Griffiss Institute for commercialization of technology from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate, a federal lab whose national headquarters are at the business park in Rome.

One award went to Griffiss Institute for its overall technology-transfer program and a second to Mike McCoy, who last year started the Griffiss Institute’s Commercialization Academy, an accelerator-like program that pairs entrepreneurial students with commercial opportunities emerging from information research under way at the AFRL Information Directorate. For coverage of the “demo day” held for the the 2015 cohort of Commercialization Academy teams, see this news release
