Uma Bioseed, spinoff of a Cornell spinoff and incubator tenant, wins $500k as finalist in 43North business-plan competition

Uma Bioseed, mentioned on our site previously when it won the New York State Business Plan Competition, went on to win a major $500,000 investment as a finalist in the 43North business-plan competition in Buffalo.

As pointed out by the Cornell University news release, the MBA-student-initiated venture is effectivley a spin-off of a Cornell spinoff, since it adapted platform technology developed by ZYMTronix, a tenant of our member the McGovern Family Center for Venture Development in the Life Sciences

According to the Uma Bioseed website, the company has developed an enzymatic treatment that protects agricultural seeds from pathogens.
